Designing Screens for Online Worship

Designing Screens for Online Worship

I have heard from many churches that you are protecting your communities by moving worship online – such wonderful news – thank you. Designing online worship screens is a bit different than designing for large church screens.

The first thing you need to do is switch to a widescreen slide size. I know - many Envision Worship customers use the Traditional size PowerPoints for their large screens and that makes sense. But computer screens and flatscreen TVs are formatted for widescreen images. Don't worry for Envision Worship customers, simply email me and I will send you the widescreen versions for free.

The good news is that you will be able to use the entire space on the screen if you use the widescreen size.  It also looks better. Here are the two different looks:

You should give more information on your welcome screen. People will need time to connect. So you will often post the worship service a few minutes before the start time. Use a screen to welcome your viewers and let them know that worship will start soon.

In addition, you might want to add your church’s website URL on the opening screen and the closing screen. Because worship is online, you have the potential to reach many more people from a much larger geographic area. Giving them the resources to connect with your church might increase not only participation but financial giving.
